Circumcised by and Brought to Fullness in Christ -Col. 2:10

This post goes with Circumcised by and Brought to Fullness in Christ  on my YT channel.

IllustrationCircumcised by and Brought to Fullness in Christ

The first Adam (on the left) is the unregenerate nature we lived in before we were transferred into Christ by God. The last Adam (on the right, standing behind) is Jesus Christ who you’ve been transferred into permanently. You are the new nature now, standing in front of and inside Jesus Christ.

What did Christ do with the first Adam? Colossians 2:11 tells us that in Christ you were(past tense) circumcised by Christ alone, you having nothing to do with it because it was not done by human hands. And He spiritually removed (past tense) in totality your whole self ruled by the flesh, the unregenerate nature (old man).

The black serpent in the unregenerate nature represents the flesh, the old nature.  The blood-red knife represents the circumcision of us by Christ. Also, the cross in the middle of the illustration (between the two natures) and the DNA inside the new nature on the right are in red representing the finished work of Christ’s blood.

1 Corinthians 15:45 tells us that the first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Adam represents flesh; Jesus represents Spirit.

Adam represents death; Jesus represents Life.

Hebrews 9:12b, 10:14  tells us that Jesus Christ lived (under the law of Moses) the perfect life for us, died our guilty death for us, was buried and resurrected. In this, He completed a perfect work for us, making us spiritually perfect. This work of His is perfect and eternal because He is perfect and eternal. Our faith in Him makes us perfect and eternal in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:18 tells us that all this (perfect and eternal completed work) is from God who (already) reconciled us to Himself through Christ. The sanctification piece of the Christian life is the Holy Spirit conforming with heavenly sandpaper your soul (mind, will, emotions, conscience) to the image of Christ which is already perfected in your spirit. Your spirit being perfected in Him is how you are in Him and one spirit with Him.

The real you (the new nature) is on the right side of the illustration with Christ standing behind you as you are now in Him. Why? Because you’ve been transferred by God from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. The butterfly by your shoulder represents the new creation that you are now because 2 Corinthians 5:1 tells us that if any man or woman is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away. (It’s gone.) Behold! (Wake up and see!) The new (nature) has come! Get used to it, God implies in this verse, because that’s who you are now in Christ. Hallelujah!

The brightness and fullness of the gold color of the new nature represents how full of glory he is as the new nature in Christ. He has been brought to fullness already by God because God’s work is perfect and eternal. The new nature doesn’t have to do anything to be who God has already made him.

However, the new nature does need to believe, ask, seek, knock, study, meditate, internalize, and connect with the body of Christ regularly in authentic venues (Cross Current, Living Waters, Grief Share, Stephen’s Ministry, small group, counseling) where he can receive grace and acceptance, etc. These practices will enable him to experience healing and being the new nature in this dimension.

The new nature is inside of Christ Himself, part of His very being as one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17). Wherever the new nature (the real you) goes, Christ is there because you  are one spirit with Him. You are not in yourself anymore, you are in Christ. You’re not in your family of origin anymore, you’re in Christ. You’re not in the world system anymore, you’re in Christ. Jesus Christ is your full and complete identity now.

The large red DNA of Christ inside the new nature is what Christ gives you when He transfers you into His kingdom because you are in Him. In Christ you have already been brought to fullness in Him. This is old news to God…

It’s important for us to learn to realize and accept that Christ already lived the perfect life for us, died the perfect death for us, was buried for us, was raised from the dead for us. He’s checked every box for us! So that means that we don’t have to stress out striving to accomplish what He already has. (Not that we could anyway. We can’t. That’s why He did it for us.)

When you try to live the Christian life, you’re blocking the Holy Spirit. Only Christ can live the Christian life. When you surrender and say, “I can’t live the Christian life. But you can. Please, Lord, live your life through me.” God says, “Ahh! I’m so glad you asked. Of course, I will!”

Every area in your heart that fights this truth or won’t surrender is a personal issue you have. Trying to please that parent that could never be pleased. Trying to live up to some standard that someone told you that you could never do. Trying to get recognition from man. Etc. Those issues are for you to resolve with the Lord’s illumination and healing.

It is conclusive: you are not the old nature any more. Period. That nature is gone and thrown away by Christ’s spiritual circumcision of you. Any parts of you or habits you have that still believe that you are the old nature, bring up with the Lord and ask for illumination and healing. All places that don’t line up with the new nature need grace, truth, connectedness with the body of Christ, and healing.

What about remnants of the old nature I’m struggling with?

If I still lie, I need to realize that the new nature doesn’t need to lie anymore because I’m not guilty or on trial or needing to impress anyone, and because the new nature loves truth and Christ is the truth.

If I still feel like I want to go rob that bank, I need to realize that the new nature doesn’t need to rob a bank because Christ will see to it that all my needs in His riches. He promises!

Every wound in my heart that doesn’t agree with God’s truth needs grace, truth, and healing in the connectedness and authenticity of the body of Christ. Healing is free and abundant in Christ and in the safe members of the body of Christ.

The more you renew your mind and experience God’s grace, truth, acceptance and healing, the more you will appreciate and experience the truth that you are the new nature. Remember, don’t doubt your faith, doubt your doubt.

You were (past tense) circumcised by Christ and brought to fullness in Him by Him. It’s a fact. Get used to it! God’s got your back. He gives you the benefit of the doubt. He’s done everything for you. He’s a perfect good, good Father. I pray that you will come to know Him in that way.
