Love…what is love?
God is love (1 John 4:8).
[God = love.]
If we want to know love, we must know God because God is love.
1 Corinthians 13:1-8 is the “love chapter” of the Bible.
Because God is love, we can replace “love” with “God:”
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have God, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have God, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have God, I gain nothing.
God is patient and kind. God does not envy, God does not boast, God is not proud.
God does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs. God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
God never fails…”
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 3:16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
