More Precious than Rubies

The most precious of gemstones are rubies.

Rubies are more rare and valuable than diamonds. The world record paid at auction for a ruby is U.S. $3.63 million in 1988 for a 15.97 carat Burmese ruby (U.S. $227,300 per carat). By comparison, a 62 carat flawless diamond recently sold for just over U.S. $8 million, or U.S. $130,000 per carat.

But there is something more valuable than rubies. It is the wisdom of God. “The price of wisdom is above rubies” (Job 28:18, Proverbs 3:15) the Scripture says.

WISDOM FROM GOD IS WORTH MORE THAN ANYTHING. IT IS PRICELESS.

Wisdom from God we desperately need in every area of our lives.

Wisdom guides us in our decisions, relationships, finances, plans, our speech, thoughts and actions.

Wisdom allows us to see beyond our circumstances to the reality of what God is doing.

Wisdom allows us to see beyond words and into the heart.

Wisdom allows us to take action in areas we would otherwise overlook and refrain from action in areas we would otherwise assert ourselves.

Let’s not waste our time and resources pursuing the perishable things of this world.

Let’s not waste our time and resources by walking in human wisdom.

Let’s invest in eternity by boldly and regularly asking for wisdom from God who is generous and gives freely.

When we invest eternally by asking for wisdom, we will enjoy the satisfaction of seeing God’s priceless asset in our lives.

Job 28:18
Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies.

Proverbs 3:13-18
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
