Offerings and sacrifices to God for sin are no longer required because at Calvary they were eliminated and replaced with the final Sacrifice which was given for us. Even so, we continue to give offerings of our bodies and faculties according to whether we surrender them to darkness or to light. Each faculty is a gift and operates under an authority.
For example, to whom do you offer or yield your mind? How do you spend your thoughts? Does that sound extreme?
Another example, to whom do you offer your tongue? Who have you given dominion over it? To whom does it yield?
And what about your time? Does it belong to you? Whom does it serve?
In the big picture, who owns and runs your life? Have you given it as a sacrifice? Who is in control of it?
For mankind Jesus Christ gave absolutely everything: top to bottom, inside and out and start to finish. Is there anything else He could have given?
Why did He refuse to hold anything back?
If he didn’t hold back, how then can we as His followers deceive ourselves in attempting to maintain anything apart from Him?
Is it worthy to offer Almighty God anything less than a complete living sacrifice?
What percentage of your life apart from Christ is worth holding on to?
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.
And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.
Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];
When He said just before, You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings–all of which are offered according to the Law–
I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
